Who is your target audience, and what is your niche?
I started on LinkedIn in late 2019 with 33 connections. I now have 160k+.
It took me a lot of time and experimenting to find my niche.
For you, it can be a lot faster. Instead of spending months writing aimlessly, you can find a niche in 10 minutes.
I am going to tell you all about how to do it yourself in this email so you don’t have to waste time writing directionless content.
So why do you need to “find” your niche?
It's simple. People need to understand WHAT you do and WHY you’re different, and they need to know it FAST. If they don’t, they won't follow or pay you.
If creating content is the first step to making money online, creating your niche is step zero.
Anyone can talk about remote work, productivity, or content creation. But how do you make it your own? How do you niche down?
1. Thinking their job or skill is their niche
For example, “Copywriting” isn’t a niche in itself. It’s a skill that you can use to create a niche.
<aside> 💡 For example, instead of saying this: “I am a copywriter.” Niche down, say this: “I am a copywriter for time-strapped real estate agents in Canada”

See the difference? It stands out way more and in today’s creator economy, you need to stand out.
2. Serving a broke audience.
Even if you got your niche figured out… You want to pick the right niche! You will struggle to make money on LinkedIn if you're targeting a niche that has no money…(like college students).
Instead, do some research into your niche before you pick it. You want to write for a niche that has money or at least the potential to earn money.
3. Going too broad
To win on LinkedIn, you need to become hyper-niche. Things are getting crowded. Everyone wants to make money online and become a creator.
Perhaps a few years back, just saying you are a “graphic designer” was good enough…
But these days?
You can’t serve everyone. It’s too competitive, and you won't stand out. It’s boring and generic. So, you need to dare to be really, really specific.
Hyper-niche is the new niche.
