On a cold February day, a new project was starting..

We had just acquired this property.

My partner Scott, our designer Teresa and I were in the leasing office prepping the interior design...

We stepped out to go take a closer look at the units.

But I realized I needed a property map. ↳ to identify the vacant units to inspect.

I turned around and went back to the office to get it and...

Heard a series of shots that sounded like an automatic rifle.

We all looked at each other in DISBELIEF!

Looking back now, I can't help but wonder..

What if we had stepped out of the Leasing Office to go across to the unit without turning around for the map..

We would’ve been directly in the line of fire.

Afterwords we found out..

A gang happened to be driving by. ↳ one of the members had a dispute.

So she jumped out of her vehicle. ↳ and ran through our property.

The other gang member fired a round in her direction.

We called the police. No resident was harmed. Bullets and evidence recovered.

I'll be honest for a minute.

Bullets can't stop me from my mission.

It would’ve been easy to call it quits. ↳ and stop visiting my properties.

But I took this moment as a sign. ↳ that I was spared for a reason.

I find great purpose in what I do.

I believe in leaving a place better than when I found it and I do this with every property I take on.

4 years later to this day.

I still frequently visit my properties.

And I believe...

We are all here for a reason.
